Puy de Dôme

The Puy de Dôme and its chain of volcanoes, in the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The chain is marked by a succession of volcanic peaks: the Puy Monchier, the Puy Besace, and the Col de Ceyssat to the west, and the Puy de Dôme, rising to 1,464 meters and dominating the landscape with its distinctive silhouette. Also featured are the Petit Puy de Dôme, the Grand and Petit Suchet, the Puy Côme with its nested craters, and to the south, the Maar d’Enval, a remnant of an ancient phreatomagmatic explosion that left this crater lake in the valley.
