Sicily

The magnificent island of Sicily, the largest in the Mediterranean, at the crossroads between Europe and Africa.

The reliefs that structure the island can be distinguished: Mount Etna to the east, an active volcano and the highest peak in insular Italy, and the Nebrodi and Madonie mountains crossing the north. Also visible are the Strait of Messina separating it from the mainland, Cape Bon pointing toward Tunisia to the south, and the Aeolian Islands rising off the northern coast.
